Aquatic Industry

Aquatic Examiner Service
Through the American Red Cross Aquatic Examiner Service (AES) owners and operators of aquatic facilities will receive an independent, professional overview of their pool's operations, safety procedures and lifeguarding competency. Our program is a service designed to provide the pool owner/operator with the "checks and balances" necessary to evaluate their total pool operation.

The AEP consists of three separate services:

Facility evaluation
  • This step occurs in an initial conference, where Red Cross staff provides an unbiased overview of an aquatic facility's current lifeguarding operation.
Staff training
  • Local Red Cross helps customize staff training and provides year-round support. Review and reinforcement of Red Cross lifeguarding skills is the primary goal of the program and should occur each season.
On-site lifeguard evaluation
  • The Red Cross makes unannounced on-site examinations of the aquatic facility and observes lifeguards performing their assigned lifeguarding duties.
The benefit to the owner is a lower risk of accidents and improved safety. Red Cross clients are assured of having highly skilled, professionals assisting them in improving the operating safety of their facility and staff.
