Emergency Preparedness

Long before a disaster strikes, the Red Cross engages in the following on-going preparedness activities, to name a few
  • Recruit, train and develop volunteers - we offer free standardized disaster training to teach volunteers to help individuals affected by a disaster
  • Identify shelter sites and train shelter teams - we train churches, schools or other organizations, with facilities available for use as a shelter, to open their facilities to the community in time of disaster.
  • Collaborate with local emergency management offices, businesses, and other volunteer/non-profit agencies - we partner with many community agencies before a disaster happens to ensure we provide uniform, efficient and timely disaster relief to those affected.
  • Provide disaster preparedness information to the community - we provide on-site disaster education to help individuals and groups prepare for any type of emergency.
