With the help of qualified volunteers, Disaster Services responds to an average of 3-4 single family emergencies, such as house and apartment fires, every day throughout the Greater Houston Area 17 county jurisdiction.

Red Cross trained workers are ready to respond whenever a disaster strikes not only in Harris and surrounding counties, but elsewhere in the country. We provide the following services to help affected individuals and communities return to normal living conditions as soon as possible:

  • Emergency food and clothing
  • Safe, dry, temporary shelter
  • Emotional support to victims and familes
  • Damage assessment to determine the number of homes and families affected
  • Information to the media and local government officials
  • Emergency communications and inquiries

Disaster response is available through our Disaster Action Teams(DAT) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
